So as you know, JB and I ride bikes. DUH. As the weather gets colder we have to take the riding inside… On a trainer.
My trainer ride usually looks a lot like this… watching tv.. sly wondering when i’ll be done.
Our friend Don (that’s OFD- Old Fast Don) let us borrow his rollers. What are rollers you ask? Instead of attaching your back wheel to the trainer, your bike is placed on top of rollers and it’s like riding on the road.. nothing holding you on. And yes that means you can fall over..
Here is JB on his first ride..
and IF I try them I’ll be sure to get a video because it will be hilarious, and Yes- I will be wearing a helmet.
Heading out for a run soon, then meeting up with my girl K-A to see the new Twilight. Yes I know, I know- but it’ll be fun then tonight JB and I are headed to his mom’s for her B-DAY. The big 6-0 this year! Sorry Carol xoxox
Hope you have a great weekend! I made an awesome soup last night I’ll be sharing with you tomorrow.. Sausage Kale soup- so stay tuned!
Sly met a lady friend. Her name is Abby..
They are so stinkin’ cute! I think love is in the air.
Mr. Sweet Tooth himself has been itching to have some cookies- so I made a batch today while he was out MTN biking.. Oatmeal chocolate chip Yep- just because.
And for this week and next weekend (as I will be working) I made some Monkey Muffins! (Paleo friendly) I was in a baking mood today.. can’t you tell?
Here’s how I made these: preheat @350
- 6 eggs
- 1/3 c. honey
- 1/3 c. coconut oil
- 1 t. vanilla
- 1/2 c. coconut flour
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1/2 t. baking soda
- 1 Lg. very ripe, mashed banana
- 1/4 c. unsweetened coconut flakes
- 1/4 c. walnuts or any nut you like
Bake for 25 minutes- makes 12 muffins
I finally got my new wheels in last week and gave them a whirl yesterday- they are AWESOME. I didn’t think that just switching out your wheelset would make a difference. 1LB lighter, I sure can tell! Looking forward to my Monday night ride with the Barney’s Gang tomorrow:)
Time to get me cold weather riding gear out…
It’s been a long time since my last post. I have been busy with work, a road race and just got back from a week at the Cape!
Instead of telling you all about it, I’ll try and show you. Starting with the race. My father, brother Dave, and (soon to be) SIL Erin all did the Falmouth road race on Aug 12th. Let me tell you, it was something to see.. Over 12,000 PEOPLE!!
The weather forecast did not look promising for the race, so we played it by ear.
Going back and forth we ultimately decided to race. The rain and heat made it SO muggy, it was unbearable. I had to stop a bunch by the ocean and catch some fresh air, away from all the people.
Haha- check out those splits.. pretty impressive hu? Here’s Dave and I- patiently waiting the arrival of Dad and Erin shortly after
Post race we headed back to the house, and went out for dinner to the Beach House. It kind of stunk being on a Sunday, so I stayed Sunday night and went back Monday morning, straight to work. Dinner was good though!
The week flew by, heading up to Maine for work Wednesday until Thursday night to see Eastern Maine Medical. After work on Saturday, JB and I packed up shop and headed down the Cape for the week for vaca. We didn’t have much planned, just a lot of relaxing, a few bike rides, dinner dates and beach days…
bike ride #1
bike ride #2-
Sly made a “friend” at the beach the second to last night.. Ever heard of the web site Dog Shaming? Dave showed me it, and thought I should submit a picture of SLY.. Check it out.
And here I am. Vacation is over. Back to work. Heading out for a bike ride up to Wachusett Mountain- Let the REAL fun begin!
Ok. Now i’m nervous. The “CARE CONNECTION CENTER” officially opens tomorrow.. and I’m on- first thing in the morning to get things going. No pressure… right? EEEEEEEK!! deep breath.
Oh- Here’s my weeks worth of outfits
Yesterday JB and I took a ride to Gearworks to pick up some new threads.. nothin’ like a new pair of cycling shorts (and bottle)!
Today we went for a little bike ride to test em’ out. Of course JB had to search out some segments And he crushed them per usual.
Yesterday after Gearworks we headed out to Natick Mall- seeing as though it was a rainy lazy day, who else would be there? ONLY EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER WAS THERE! It was so packed, it honestly felt like the holidays, people scavenging for parking and waiting in long lines everywhere! We didn’t stay for too long, just long enough to get a few little things
As for now, I’m going to plop on the couch and relax for the rest of the evening and NOT try and stress over work tomorrow. Dinner tonight is Spinach Feta turkey burgers from Whole Foods… mmmmmmm cannot wait I LOVE burger night!
Hope you had a great weekend, and made the most of the rain…
Have a good week!
With all of this warm weather I’ve been cleaning out the closets.. literally. The bedroom, bathroom, laundry, basement and pantry… remember I love to re-organize stuff? This is what I call fun I really do love spring cleaning, purging all the junk winter has accumulated, lightening up and de-cluttering everything. I’ve been looking at old clothes, I literally haven’t worn in YEARS.. yet I just can’t seem to donate… why? because I think – “maybe I’ll wear it someday?”
well- NO! NOT today- Today is the day I’m donating whatever I haven’t worn in the last year.
How many of you feel that way too? “I’ll just wear it once more.. even though I really don’t like it..”
Enough is enough.. Good Will is going to be happy to see me! and that’s just ONE of the bags..
I like the whole buying a few staples in the wardrobe and working off those.. and just accessorizing. I’m not a fashionista at all- but I’m getting the hang of things I’ve got my eye on a few outfits for this summer.. simple, easy, and most important- Comfortable! Found these from Athleta, Title Nine and the first outfit idea on Pinterest
The weather has been amazing the past week.. so I’ve been riding outside. Today I did 35 miles solo with my new bar tape
what do you think? A little flashy I know
How have you been enjoying the nice weather?
