I don’t really know what to say about Old Orchard Beach.. other than the fact that this was probably the last time going there. It’s great for people watching, but sometimes it just gets to be too much. We had a great time and great weather, we just had to leave a night early.
Thursday we stopped at Kittery and did a little shopping.. for a storz connection?! haha-of course JB finds an American Fire Hose one! woot woot!
Thursday night after arriving to our hotel we went out to grab a bite to eat at Hoss and Mary’s. It got great reviews on YELP so we checked it out:
I went for the turkey BLT.. and yes- it was delicious.
Later we just walked around, and hung out for the Thursday night fireworks. It was rather cloudy but we still had a pretty good view:
Friday morning I got up early and went for a run on the beach… where there were already a ton of people setting up their spot! We headed over there for a few hours- it was so, so hot and got really crowded! Thankfully the water was cool- and huge waves too. I felt like a little kid playing in the water. And the sand chair was a hit!
Next time we’ll actually bring real chairs.. oh and an umbrella.
Friday night we decided on pizza for dinner. Duhhhhh- Pizza night is a staple in our diet when vacationing, don’t you know that already? We headed over to Roma Pizza. It was some of THE BEST pizza I have had in a long time. Thin crust, not too saucy- just perfect. The owner was wicked nice too
Before going for ice cream we went to this place called Soho Square. It’s a little pub with pool, darts and foosball! We didn’t stay too long as the bathrooms were a little scary, along with the locals.
Saturday was low key.. Yelped breakfast and decided on Beach Bagels then we
waddled walked around a little more.
Then after all this decided to call it a trip. Why? Here’s just A FEW of the reasons..
- A mom blasting Tupac in her car down the strip with her teenage son and 8 year old daughter in the back seat.
- Pay to pee on The Pier and main strip.
- White pants.
- Kids running amok with no parents in sight.
- Speedo’s. a lot of speedo’s.
- Adult twins.
- mullets, no teeth, and cutoff shirts.
- revving motorcycle engines.. over and over. The Lamborghini can do it, not your Honda.
Don’t get me wrong- it’s a cool place to go, just not our scene… anymore. Maybe we are getting old? Who knows, but I’d rather be in the mountains hiking and biking or on a secluded island with palm tree’s and blue water.. perhaps our next real vacation
…What’s your ideal vacation?
