As I mentioned to you before.. Courtney and I were headed to a Blogger dinner which was last night and it was absolutely AMAZING!! It was put on by the Boston Food Bloggers. I had no idea what to expect as it was my first “blogger event”, but now the bar is set pretty high! We arrived at Tre Monte in Woburn around 6:45, enjoyed a drink and waited for the other bloggers to arrive..We sat down and met everyone.. talking about our blogs, favorite restaurants, food, wine, etc. Among the company were fellow bloggers: Daisy, Megan, Richard, Heather, Jon, Michelle, and thanks to Rachel for putting it together and letting me join in on the fun! So while we were all getting to know eachother… the food made it’s appearance and like the paparazzi all the camera’s came out.. Of course bread and dipping oil to start us off.. my favorite!
While I usually get a little timid about taking pictures of my food in restaurants, not this time! we all had our cameras out, ready to go, it was awesome. So the company was great and the food was to die for. We were served an array of appetizers to start; picked out by the very talented Chef. They just kept coming and coming.. and coming;
here we have the famous ARANCINI: Rice rolled with ground meat and cheese breaded and fried and served over marinara.. which were crunchy on the outside and warm and cheesy in the middle.. I wish I had one right now..
next to devour- SHRIMP GRAND MARNIER -Egg battered shrimp in a sweet Gran Marnier sauce… two words.. ORDER AGAIN!
Courtney.. who has NEVER tried shrimp before.. I thought this would be a good one for her to try Yes she liked it.. and, No she wasn’t allergic to shellfish!
OK… now really- after all those appetizers.. a normal person wouldn’t be hungry right?.. well remember who you are dealing with here.. we are food bloggers! So time for the main course.. Yes- we got to order WHATEVER we wanted for our main dish. Did I mention this was all free too? This restaurant and Boston Food Bloggers really knows how to put on a gig! After reviewing the menu over and over, even the day before I had an idea of what I wanted.. the Filet or the Baked haddock and shrimp. But once we got there, of course the SPECIALS overwhelmed me and I changed my mind and ordered the Swordfish. Good thing I did, because it was one of the best pieces of swordfish I have eaten. No fancy sauces or rubs, just plain old fish; grilled with a side of sauteed spinach with garlic and olive oil, and the potato gratin with fontina cheese and proscuitto (thanks to Courtney on that one, I’ve never had it before.. and it was melt in my mouth good)…
I wanted to finish every last bite of my dinner, but then it hit me.. we are getting dessert too!! Ohh- this night just kept getting better and better. After talking with the Chef, we were served some delectible straight off the boat Italian Desserts. These things put all the bakeries in town to shame.. seriously.
Cannoli filled with sweet ricotta cheese and chocolate chips, Profiteroles, filled with cappaccino gelato, Tiramisu made with rum and espresso soaked lady fingers layered with mascarpone cheese and cocoa.
I had a little bit of each… and each one was an explosion of flavor in my mouth.. I couldnt imagine something tasting so good.. but I guess if it’s from Italy it’s going to be that good right?!
green tip. If watering your grass be sure to do it at night so it doesn’t dry out in the sun and will save you water!
